About the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up, she's at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it gave her a big enough ego to try her hand at novels. She’ll tell you all about it out back, where a cord of wood awaits.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Very intense!

Very intense!
WOW this book was intense! This is the first book I read by CD Reiss and now I'm wondering why. The story of Adam and Diana is captivating from the very start and the story was impossible to put down. You know the premise of the story...she wants a divorce and he wants 30 days alone together to show her exactly who he is and what his life was before her. I enjoyed that the book was split into his POV and then her POV instead of jumping back and forth. However, the whole time I was reading his POV I was distracted by wanting to understand why she really left him in the first place. I felt as if he really loved her, but clearly he was holding a part of himself back. I wanted to understand where the disconnect began. It is an emotionally charged read and you feel invested in their relationship and what is to come for Adam and Diana. The ending has me on pin and needles, I had to read the last few chapters over and over to make sure I understood how things turned out for them. I was shocked how Adam left things with their relationship and needless to say will be reading Separation Games.

I am not sure if I am going to be able to do this book the justice it deserves. My review is based on the audio version, which I loved. Absolutely loved.

I am not even sure where to start, except that I loved Adam. He was not always a nice man, but he loved his wife. Adored her. His love for her dripped off the pages. There was no doubt in the readers minds that he loved her and her leaving him devastated him. He had no idea this was coming.

Adam was a dominant. He lived to dominate. He was very good at it and submissive women wanted him. It was a life he knew and loved. But he also knew he could never love a submissive. He was not built to love one.

Then one day he meets Diana. Strong, independent and willful Diana. He is lost. He falls and falls hard. So he walks away from the dominant he is. They have five years together and he is happy. Or so he thinks.

I loved how C.D. Reiss gave us both POV, but in an original way. The first half of the book is told in Adam's perspective and the second half in Diana's, with sprinkles of both in each. I loved seeing bits of their past and how they lost their way. The love was there, but when one person hides something big from the other, it usually comes back to bite them.

For the first half of the book I was not sure how I felt about Diana. I understand why she left. We know why she left. But she also seemed a bit wishy washy. Not necessarily weak, but indecisive. But as we get her point of view, we see more of where she is coming from.

To be able to move forward once and for all, Adam asks Diana for 30 days to do as he wants, with no exception. Obey him completely and show her the man he truly is. She is not sure if she should do this, but he is willing to give her everything she wants in the divorce if she tries.

But neither was prepared for what they felt, wanted and learned about each other. With everything on the balance, can they learn to love again or break each other apart?

I loved this story. It was the story of a couple who loved fiercely, but lost each other along the way. Its a story about redemption and forgiveness, but also of loss and pain. I was so consumed by this story. Though there are (huge) elements of BDSM, it is really a story of love and loss.

And the supporting characters. UGH, how I hated them. I wanted to throttle Serena! She seemed so innocent when we learn about her through Adam's eyes and then we see her through Diana's eyes. She is trouble.

I absolutely loved this book! The characters, the story, well everything. I was so consumed, I went back and forth on not finishing the audio and just diving in and reading it (as I read faster than listen), but I made myself finish the audio and loved it! And now I am jumping right into the audio of Separation Games! Because that ending just about killed me!

    Happy reading!

When I first starting seeing all of the glowing reviews for this book, I was curious. Since reading many mediocre BDSM books in the wake of the success of 'Fifty Shades of Gray', I have kind of steered clear of that particular trope. With the exception of a few, really dark stories, the BDSM novelty has pretty much worn off for me.

So, when I saw that this book focused largely on that particular topic, I put it on the back burner again. As the stellar reviews from friends kept rolling in, I eventually succumbed to my curiosity and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad that I did. 'Marriage Games' ended up being a great story.

Diane has left her husband, Adam. She literally dumped her husband with a "Dear John" letter, left in their loft for him to find. Poor Adam thought that everything was fine in their marriage. She never mentioned any problems or told him that she was unhappy. Man, was he ever wrong.

As the two grapple with the details of their impending divorce, Adam gets back in touch with a side of himself that he had suppressed while he was with Diane...his Dominant side. Adam had lived his life as a Dom before meeting Diane. When he met her, he wanted her so badly that he lived a vanilla existence to keep her, believing that she would be put off by his dominant inclinations.

Fast-forward a few years and Diane is bored to death with her marriage. The loss of a pregnancy and the grief that followed have changed the dynamics of their relationship and made Diane question what she really wants. Adam and Diane are more like roommates than lovers and Diane feels like she is dying a slow death, suffocating in the rote routine of their daily lives together. When she comes to the realization that she isn't in love with her husband any longer, she decides that it is time for a divorce.

Adam is completely blindsided by Diane's letter. He adores his wife and is deeply in love with her. He is devastated by her abrupt decision to leave him. When he seeks out the guidance of his good friend and mentor, Charlie, another Dom, he devises a plan to help him get over Diane.

Adam has never believed himself capable of loving a submissive. What drew him to Diane was her strength and resilience. She challenged him and didn't back down. While he loves the sexual games he plays with his subs, he's never been able to develop feelings for them, beyond the concern you would have for a friend.

In order to get Diane out of his system, he proposes that she give him 30 days at his private BDSM getaway. If she serves him as his submissive for those 30 days, he will sign over full ownership of their business. Then, Diane will get what she wants and so will Adam.

Diane agrees and so the story begins.

I have to say that I enjoyed this story much more than I had anticipated. Even though I read some fantastic reviews, I was really expecting another over-hyped BDSM story that fit the mold of so many books before it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book stirred genuine emotions and held my interest from start to finish.

As Adam and Diane explored their sexual tastes and boundaries, the growing intimacy was unmistakable. However, the betrayal and hurt that Diane had inflicted with her rash decision was also unavoidable. It seemed like they took one step forward and two back. As Diane grew closer, Adam grew more distant. They couldn't ever seem to get on the same page where their marriage was concerned.

On top of everything else, Adam's ex-sub is also on the property. Now subbing for one of the "friends" that co-owns the property with him, she clearly wants Adam back. At every turn, she manipulates the situation to commandeer Adam's attention away from Diane.

This leads to some very tense and emotionally charged situations. My heart broke for Diane, even as I knew that she was only reaping what she had sowed. Often times, I felt that Adam was intentionally callous in his handling of the situation. It was like he wanted to hurt Diane, which I suppose he did.

All things considered, I thought it was a great story. There are still some things related to the BDSM genre that make me cringe, particularly the degradation and humiliation aspects. However, I did enjoy this story quite a bit.

It ends with a cliffhanger and I wanted to jump right in to the second book. Having listened to the Audible edition of 'Marriage Games', I was disappointed to find that the second book, 'Separation Games' was not out in Audible format yet. That is something that you may want to keep in mind if you're considering listening to this series. The narration was great, but I had to switch to the Kindle edition for the second book, which peeved me.

I like to start and finish a series in the same format. That being said, I'm sure if I'd been willing to wait a short while, it would have been released in the audiobook format. I guess it says something about how good this book was that I wasn't willing to wait to finish the series.

What a book. I am an instant CD Riess fan. This book was amazing, the plot, the characters, everything. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I purchased this book based on the blurb and definitely was not let down.

The extent a husband will go to when faced with his wife wanting a divorce is displayed in this book. Secrecy lives before they met will be disclosed as they take time together to find who they really are and disclose to the other.

If you like a dirty BDSM book with a few twists along the way you need to read this book. Be warned there is one hell of a cliffhanger.

I'm definitely waiting impatiently for book 2.

This book was absolutely fascinating to read, wonderfully written as are all of CD Reiss's books, she has gone in depth with this one. Into the minds and the hearts of the people involved in this book. I was taken on a journey of discovery of the BDSM world and the feelings of all involved in this journey.

Adam and Diane are married but Diane isn't fulfilled and is unhappy with her lot. She leaves Adam who is shocked and confused by her decision and makes it his mission to win her back. Adam is a typical alpha male, dominant, sexy, caring and knows exactly what he wants. I LOVED this man from the start but Diana was a little harder to get to like, she is a strong woman, independent and knows her own mind. When she finds out her husband used to be a Dom before they met, she is shocked at first but inquisitive and eager to find out more, but two strong minds clash and soon there are fireworks flying everywhere.
What I really liked about this book was that the first half was written from Adam POV. I find it really interesting to read what a man feels about sex through his eyes, it is erotic and sexy and intriguing. Diana'a POV was not so captivating but we do get to read what she is feeling about her marriage, her husband and their future together - or not !!

This book is a must read, it is enticing, sexy, erotic full of angst and anticipation that will keep you turning the pages of this book until the very last word.
Now this book ends on a slight cliffhanger but not to worry go one click Separation Games - the conclusion to this fab series !!!

Sweet mother of all that is holy!!! I told myself I was not going to one-click Marriage Games until book two came out in January. Of course with all the hype surrounding it I just had to get it. Yeah I read it already. So sue me. I was like a kid in the candy store. I wanted to devour it. I wanted to ingest it and you know what I did just that. Now let me tell you, all that hype was 100% on the mark!!!

You know what I'm sitting here at my computer trying to think of what I can say about this book. All I can say is:
    1. MG has quickly become one of my top reads of 2016
    2. I cannot freaking wait for part two. So hoping for an early release. Mine is already preordered so I WILL NOT MISS IT!!!
    3. This is a definite must read. Don't wait for the next one. It ends at a pivotal moment that just makes you not care that Ms. Reiss did this. It just makes you want the next one that much more.
    4. January cannot come fast enough & with it Separation Games, Eek!!!

If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. These 5 stars are very well deserved!!

    Let me start by saying
    1. I don't read BDSM setting stories
    2. I loved this story
So, yeah you can say that even though this is something I don't usually read but the story telling, the emotion of the characters are compelling enough to look behind the whole dom/sub thing.
A love story and self discovery, I loved it.
