    I think this has now become my favourite book in this series of standalones! I was a bit weary of Lance at first given how he was portrayed in the earlier books but I figured he had to have some secrets that would redeem his earlier behaviour. Lance and Poppy were magical together. She was everything he needed to mend himself and start feeling again! She managed to pull him out of his darkness. Lance was amazing and probably my favourite Hero I've read about in a while. The chemistry between these two characters was off the charts and I was swooning the whole way through.

    All of Helena's hockey men are different in motivation and character, but deep down they are all kind and loving and willing to put themselves out there for the right woman. Lance has had so much adversity in his life, but still manages to be a good person, if a little rough around the edges. These books (and really everything I've read of hers) manage to touch a nerve and bring about emotional reactions. I love it when a book can do that!

So well written with flawed amazing beautiful characters - a bit different from the laugh out loud humour of the other books in this series but so very very good - a satisfying read that makes you sigh and melt continuously.     I didn’t realize how badly I needed this ending for Lance. He seems like such a player in the first few books but as you read on you learn more about him and this book lays it all out for you. Shattered boy to a broken man, so glad he found healing in the end. I felt for Lance and I’m so happy he found his happy in Poppy.

    What if everything you thought you knew about Lance "Romance" Romero was wrong. Just an illusion, a distortion of the truth?

    This book had all the feels & lovers of this series will not be disappointed. New readers will love it to & will want to go back to where it all began.

    Lance's life is not as charmed nor as care free as it may seem. He holds his cards close to his chest & his demons even closer.

    He showed his cards once with the wrong person & she took them & kept them for her own advantage & to use them to keep Lance isolated & believing that she was what he deserved.

    Only a girl from his past becomes his now, his present & hopefully his future. She slowly shows him that the guilt he carries is not his burden to hold. She shines a light on his darkness to allow his light to shine.

    Their story is not without it's roadblocks but it is definately worth the ride.

    Highly recommend this book & hope that you love it as much as I did.

    I love Helena Hunting as an author - ALL of her books are outstanding reads. The Pucked series in it's entirety is just brilliant, each character is brought to life in her story telling and words. This latest one in the series has a slightly different change of pace and really does tug on your heartstrings - proving that everyone deserves love in their lives. Read them all but do start at the beginning. You'll fall in love with them all! Leave Lance till last - he's completely worth it! More, more, more Helena you amazing woman.

    I haven't read the series in order. I read the first and second books in the series and then this one caught my eye. I couldn't stop reading. Poppy and Lance's story was my favourite more my pace. Poppy is so sweet and giving. Lance is broken by his past and a past relationship which still encroaches on his present day life. Poppy is his new begining and freedom from the past. Loved this book very much.

    Nach Miller hat die Serie für mich einen neuen Liebling. Das erste Mal bei eienm Helena Hunting Buch hatte ich tatsächlich ein paar Tränen in den Augenwinkeln beim Lesen. Lance hat so sehr um Poppy gekämpft, und trotzdem konnte ich verstehen, dass es für sie nicht leicht war, ihrer Beziehung wirklich eine Chance zu geben.
    Das Wiedersehen mit alten Bekannten der Serie hat Spaß gemacht, aber das, was für mich dieses Installment wirklich zu einem herausragenden Lesevergnügen gemacht hat, war die liebevolle Zeichnung des Heldenpaares.

    Für Fans der Serie ist natürlich auch dieses Buch ein Muss, Neueinsteiger dürften spätestens nach Lances und Poppys Geschichte davon überzeugt sein, dass sie es mal mit diesen NHL Jungs probieren sollten.
