It was my 1st book by this author.
I liked her writing style,
but I guess our understanding of forgiveness-limits and attitude toward the people, who betrayed us, is quite diverse.

“I thought I’d see that dimple tonight. I imagined stripping out of my wedding gown and watching him smile in appreciation of my body. I’ve been dieting and exercising for months so I could look my best on our special night. All the while, he was fucking my sister. I’m gonna need more tequila.”

The Wrong Kind of Love is book one in The Boys of Jackson Harbor series and I really and truly enjoyed it. It also happens to be my first Lexi Ryan story. I’m having so much luck and fun with these new to me authors, it makes me wonder why I didn’t branch out more before, but I’m so pleased I have now. This story is about love lost then found, betrayal, secrets and lies. It really pulled me in with the smart witty plot and the drama that surrounded these characters. I read each new page with so much anticipation because I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next, and when the secrets and lies would be uncovered, because they always come out in the end.

Your wedding day is meant to be one of the happiest days of your life, something you’ve dreamed of since you were a little girl, but as Nicole (Nic) discovered, dreams don’t always work out as planned. Nic was all set to walk down the aisle and marry one of Alabama’s most eligible bachelors, but something was niggling away in the back of her mind, something just did not feel right. Perhaps it was that telephone conversation she overheard her fiancé having the night before the wedding. As she was preparing to walk down the aisle to the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with, she hoped her thoughts were wrong and he was the right man for her, a faithful and loving man.

Nothing could have prepared Nic for what was to happen next; her pregnant twin sister vomiting all over her, and if that’s not bad enough, discovering the baby was in fact her fiancé’s. Nic was left with no other option than to run, run away from the only life she had ever known in Alabama, away from her cheating fiancé and her duplicitous twin.

Nic knew her twin, Veronica, was set to move to Michigan for a job the night of the wedding. Being identical twins gave Nic the idea of going in place of Veronica and taking on her new position. Nic moved to the small town of Jackson Harbor and began working for the hot and broody Ethan Jackson, caring for his six year old daughter Lilly.

“I can’t keep my eyes off her. Despite all signs pointing to her being too sweet for me, I’m a miserable son of a bitch who’s drawn to the sadness beneath her smile.”

Ethan had been dealt his fair share of heartache and sorrow and as a result, had built up many walls to protect not only his heart, but that of his daughter’s too. Along the way Ethan had lost the ability to trust, and to open himself up to the prospect of falling in love again. He knew that once those walls were able to come down, he would be able to open up, to love deeply and whole-heartedly. The next time he fell in love would need to be the last, forever.

The sexual tension and chemistry between Nic and Ethan was sizzling hot and electrifying beyond all belief, but one of the things I loved most about Nic and Ethan’s story was two lost and broken souls coming together and how the power of love can heal even the most shattered of hearts. These two were simply perfect for each other and as I read, I wanted nothing more than to see them finally reach their much deserved happily ever after.

“I haven’t figured it out, and I know I’m playing a dangerous game. Maybe I’m lying to myself, but when we’re together, I believe in our love. Ethan needs to touch me as much as I ache for him to, and that connection makes me believe we’ll be okay once the storm hits.”

Whilst reading Ethan’s story I got to know and also fell in love with all of the Jackson brothers. I wait with baited breath for each of their stories. I got a little taste with The Wrong Kind of Love and now I want to know more, a lot more.

This was such a heart-warming, humorous, sweet and so unbelievably hot story about love, loss, family, the ultimate betrayal and learning to forgive. If you love your hot and steamy contemporary romances then I urge you to check this one out, because I have a feeling Dr Ethan Jackson will melt not only your heart, but your lady part too.

Nicole Maddox's wedding day turned into the worst day of her life! 💥💍
As she stands in front of her fiancé at the altar - she discovers he is been cheating on her... If that's not painful enough, he is doing it with her twin sister, Veronica. 💔
Nic decides to run away, but she only has her honeymoon bag and her sister's purse - so she finds herself using Veronica's airline ticket and arrives to a small town in Texas, Jackson Harbor, deciding to give herself time to recover far from everyone. 💥

📚 "𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑾𝑹𝑶𝑵𝑮 𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑫 𝑶𝑭 𝑳𝑶𝑽𝑬" 📚

Sad and drunk, Nic meets a hot guy in the town's bar... so hot, that she doesn't mind taking him back to her hotel roon to find comfort... What she didn't expect was this man to be her new boss - and not only that, she was asked to impersonate her twin sister during her time working for him. 😱

Dr. Ethan Jackson is a single dad with a painful past. He can't forgive himself and keep everyone away - but even when he really tries, his feelings for Nic won't go away... and now they're stuck together for the next three months and they both have secrets that can destroy everything. 💣💥

They are both broken - Ethan raising his 6-year-old daughter by himself and Nicole has lived her entire life trying to please others in her sister's shadow... Until they meet. 💥

It is a story of family and love, acceptance and forgiveness. From heartbreak to growth. 💖

📚 “𝑵𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚. 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒐 𝒇𝒐 𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒔.” 📚

This book had it all - sadness, happiness, romance, drama, humor and passion. 🔥🔥🔥
There were some extra cliche parts, but they didn't stop me from enjoying myself... the plot was refreshing and entertaining, the characters were deep and well developed - but what I liked most was the anticipation.
The anticipation they will surrender, the anticipation for the lies will be revealed... DAMN!!!!!! 💖💥

📚 “𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆-𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒕, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒂 𝒑𝒊𝒆𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒇𝒇 𝒂 𝒘𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏, 𝒂 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒂’𝒔 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒍 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔.” 📚

This is the first book in the "The Boys of Jackson Harbor" series - each about a different Jackson family brother... and let me just add that the taste I got from them in the first book made me want more... and more... and more! ❤❤❤

Title: The Wrong King Of Love (The Boys Of Jackson Harbour #1)
Author: Lexi Ryan
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: February 12, 2018

ARC

This was basically me the entire time I was reading this book "omg omg! Eeeekkk omg omg! I love this!!" Annoying right?! But come on! I loved this book so much!!! It was such a fun and sexy book with just the right amount of naughtiness, angst and anticipation to keep you going for more. Let's be real here for a moment here and say that this book had a lot of " oh gosh, that is so fracking adorable!! My heart!! " Hahaha

Ethan and Nic, their chemistry is electrifying! Ethan is broody, masculine and patient ( I kid you not, he is such an adorable dad to Lilly).

Nic is sweet, forgiving and resilient. These two together creates a relationship thats addictive and interesting.

This book starts off with a bang.. sadly, it's one with THE biggest, most disgusting betrayal EVER (read blurb) and it continues on capturing it's readers until the very end. Lexi Ryan has written a book that's heartwarming and sexy, a book on secrets and betrayal but mostly importantly a book on family, forgiveness and love.

The wrong kind of love is what contemporary romances are made of- sweet and naughty. Perfect.

Note: Ethan's daughter is so adorable! Ethan's family? Woh... I love them!

This is my first Lexi Ryan book and I am hooked!

Poor Nicole! She really got the short end of the stick when it comes to family. And the one time she decides to act out of character, it backfires in a big way. Initially anyway. Dr. Ethan Jackson is a one night encounter that pops back up as her boss. Nic doesn't WANT to lie, buts gets caught in the middle of some family secrets. And there are so many secrets. Ethan acts like a jerk to try to protect himself and Nic is rightfully offended. I like how she started out as the unsure one but became more confident, while Ethan was the one who was rattled by her presence.
What started out as a disaster ended up being the best thing to happen to them both. Just missed 5 stars though. I don't get how easily Nic forgave Veronica. Sure Marcus was horrible, but Veronica still did what she did. I almost felt like she wanted Nic to thank her for it. Looking forward to reading more about the Jackson clan!

This writer needs to be firmly and seriously questioned regarding the identity of the person(s) who told her she could write!!!!!
She deliberately creates situations in which her heroines are idiot doormats. I personally think every horrible thing that befalls the type of characters she writes about, is fully and categorically well deserved. Her writing fills me with anger, and makes me want to hit a boxing bag, or better still, burn her books on a pire, because the demeaning attitude that she instills in her heroines is everything that is wrong and sick regarding discrimination against women everywhere. These heroines give smart, capable, women who Know their own worth and enjoy a sense o sself esteem, who fight to be recognised and accepted, a bad name. Do you know how? I’m not being dramatic, it’s like this: I do not need to disrespect any feminine figure, even in fiction. And her characters inspire nothing but disgust and disrespect.
And I’m not even getting around to write about stilted flow and undeveloped, cardboard characters and robot like dynamics. Everything else about the writing was sub par, but the heroine’s are infuriating. So that’s my focus.
If you wish to read about stupid, self sacrificing doormats, who bend over backward to let people keep abusing and using them, REPEATEDLY, or heroines who are entrenchend in their feeling of being undeserving and unworthy, then of course, you have come to the right place. But my advice is, don’t do it. This was the second book and the second chance I gave this person and her awful books, so I know what I’m talking about and you really don’t have to waste your time. Go read something fun. If you are reading escapist romantic fiction, then you obviously need to feel better after finishing the damn book. Trust me, finishing this book was like swallowing a bag of nails.

Soooo, the H can forgive the heroine for supposedly hiding the fact she's pregnant with another man's baby, but he can't forgive her for pretending to be her sister. A simple name change?

Spare me.

I don’t think I can get along with people with martyr complex. Or a doormat one. Or a backbone-less one.
Or take-all-the-crap-from everyone-and-be-ok one. Or a too forgiving one. Etc. etc. etc.

R A T I N G: 2 stars to The Wrong Kind of Love ★ ★

Sadly, I had seriously mixed feelings for this one. Decent storytelling and a decent storyline, let down by both a problematic hero and a problematic heroine. I came away feeling little more than disappointed and unimpressed.

I really need to start reading the blurbs...

Yes, I'm the one that a few days ago I said in my review of that I don't usually enjoy the single-dad-nanny trope.

Yet, here I am 🤡

This book didn't work for me, unfortunately. Yes, I don't lke this trope but this book was pretty boring. I read until 70% and then I started skim-reading it because nothing major had happened since the beginning. The kid was adorable but other than that nothing caught my interest.

Maybe it's one of those it's-me-not-the-book cases but I didn't like it and I don't think I'll read the next books in the series. 2 ⭐

I voluntarily read and reviewed an copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Netgalley.

It's quite previsible "nanny and her employer". But I liked the writing and could not put it down! Shame on me!
The heroine is weak, dormat, she recognised it herself! She was this silly girl who wanted to pleasure everyone, she dropped her college for bf, left her work for her fiance.
Her cheater fiance who impregnated her twin sister.
She worked for some widower (previsible, huh?!)
He was grumpy and didn't want her ... Yes, he thought he was culpable in his wife's death.
The story has good potential. I wish the heroine had got more balls!

Good runaway bride turns nanny and the single dad read. There are a ton of secrets and lies in this book too. This one is bit of a slow build, but also not in some ways.

It’s emotional. It’s slow burn. If that’s what you’re looking for, then this is a winner.

Let me state for the record (and so we're all clear on this)--Dr. Ethan Jackson is mine. His brother Jake might also be mine too. And possibly his younger brother Levi. Imma just need some Jackson brother love.

This book is classic Lexi, and is soooooo good. Some angst, some humor, some inner turmoil, some sexy good times. It's got it all.

Nicole Maddox has just run away from the worst experience ever....finding out her twin sister is pregnant with her fiance's baby. The fiance she is literally minutes away from marrying. Devastated, embarrassed and looking to hide out while she licks her wounds, Nic impulsively hightails it out of town to Jackson Harbor, Michigan.

Dr. Ethan Jackson is a single dad, still emotionally wounded from the loss of his wife. He works a ton of hours, and spends his time being a broody stick in the mud. He's not looking for a relationship. Not now. Not ever. He is *not* opposed to a one-night stand, however. And who better to pass the evening with than the beautiful stranger with the sad eyes, getting drunk on tequila at his brother's bar?

But things are about to get complicated for Nic and Ethan. Because secrets don't make friends, and lies break hearts. But don't worry. If we're lucky, Lexi will put us back together at the end. ;)

Ash, estoy tan frustrada!!!!

UGGGGGGGG.

I absolutely loved this small town romance...lots of ‘feels’ and sweet/hot times between a widower doctor and a betrayed by her fiancé heroine. Loved all the details, the secondary characters, and especially the hero’s sweet little girl. There’s angst, there’s baggage, there’s the fear of trusting your feelings, there’s heat, and there’s new beginnings. Great start to this series—can’t wait to read all the other books!

Thanks to NetGalley for the Read Now. Sadly this book did not work for me at all! Even knowing going in that her sister ends up preggers with the h's fiance, I was hoping for some redeeming qualities from the h. I still can't fathom how a sister and no less a twin could do that to her flesh and blood. The h is such a pushover, which was mostly why this book didn't work for me. In a situation such as this I needed Nicole to be a strong character with an attitude.

I would endure bitter, cold weather for just a small taste of Ethan Jackson!

Goodness gracious….The Wrong Kind of Love is all kinds of RIGHT! It’s sweet, salacious, and heartbreakingly beautiful, wrapped up in a to-die-for cover!

This love story takes you on the wild ride of secrets, lies, and betrayal, while further enticing you with the sinfully provocative relationship between boss and employee. This story isn’t your common hot daddy/nanny story, but a romance that challenges the character’s ability to look past what’s right in front of them, and look deeper into the soul of a person.

I loved this book! The storyline, characters, and intensely raw emotions were a stunning blend that simply radiate off the pages! An absolute must-read!!!

5 Stars!

This book was everything I didn't know I need it.

A single dad trope with a cute 6 year old daughter. MMC's painful past with his dead wife. Him being sexy but having sad eyes. Him not wanting a nanny because he does not want a "temporary" woman to unbalance his child's life.

A good twin FMC with her evil twin sleeping with her fiancé and confessing she's pregnant with his child when FMC is ready to take her vows at the alter. FMC running away and having a life crisis. Fate pushes her to have her twin's job. And suddenly she's the nanny to the MMC that she had a sexy night with yesterday.

An extended family that embraced her. And probably every MMC's brother is going to get his own love story. And I'm so excited.

I've read just about every book Lexi has written. There is just something unique and special about her family sagas... I say this because this is book number one of this series, though they are all standalone, but the preview to come makes me ache for more of Lexi's words now!!!!

The Wrong Kind of Love was something uniquely different. Lexi put a great spin on this romance, and its unique story line really had me intrigued beginning to end! Our heroine is running from her wedding. She's just found out that her sister is pregnant with her fiancé, who's now standing shocked at the alter. Who could blame a girl for running far and fast from that situation. What unfolds is a beautiful tale of two souls trying to heal from very different heartbreaks, two people who don't believe in true love anymore.

I fell madly in love with Dr. Ethan Jackson. He's an amazing dad, who goes the extra mile, with a busy schedule, to spend as much time with his baby girl as he can. There is always something about a single dad that gets to me. But it's not just his love for his baby girl, its his love for his whole family. The need to be something for everyone that he can.

Nicole is probably one of the BEST female leads Lexi has written to date. She's been broken in the worst of ways, doesn't want to believe that loyally and love exist anymore. Yet she gives her love so freely to a child that isn't her own. She goes above and beyond to help a family in desperate need. She sacrifices something she so desperately craves to keep a secret that isn't hers to bear. She is the epitome of loyalty and love and she stole my heart completely as a heroine!

Do yourself a favor and read this book NOW! You will fall in love with Nicole and Ethan, and the entire Jackson family! I cannot wait to see what Lexi has in store next for this family, and I'm sure after that little preview I will NOT be disappointed...
